Latest Updates from Our Project:

Insanity chapter!
almost 8 years ago – Fri, Jan 27, 2017 at 10:13:50 PM

Fellow Adventurers,

We told you in a prior update that we would hold off this week on our update due to a company summit (as well as preparations for going to PAX South, where our marketing/sales team is now). However, I had to sneak this one in, because the final chapter illustrations are so close, and this rough for the chapter on Insanity came in this morning. I love it!

This is actually nothing more than a photo of the real life psychiatrist (Dr. Bruce Ballon) who is helping us write the chapter on Insanity.

The Yellow Sign Cult!
almost 8 years ago – Wed, Jan 18, 2017 at 06:32:51 PM

I believe the Yellow Sign edged out all others, so here is the first page of The Yellow Sign Cult in the Cult's Chapter:

PDF of the page for you:

Click Right Here! NOW! Because if you don't, you'll never see the Yellow Sign!

We are getting closer to having the final chapter illustrations complete and may show you that next week instead. The final layout being done is not too far away now!

Dreamlands Cats!
almost 8 years ago – Thu, Jan 12, 2017 at 10:13:24 PM

For reasons completely opaque to me, info about Dreamlands Cats beat out all other possible sections for the book! HPL did love cats!

Without further blather, here is the second page of the section on Cats! (again, not the real page number) -

.

If you can't read it well, here's a link to this page as a PDF:

Next Week

Cults seemed to be the second place, so there's a new vote to be had. Which of the following Cults do you want to see a page from? -

Cult of Cthulhu

Cult of the Black Goat

Cult of the Crawling Chaos

Cult of the Daemon Sultan Azathoth

Cult of the Opener of the Way

Cult of the Sleeper

Cult of the Windwalker

Cult of the Yellow Sign

Other Great One Cults [this is a section that briefly covers smaller cults not big enough to warrant an entire section, such as the "Cult" of Abhoth, such as it is]

Tcho-Tcho culture

The Painted Gate!
almost 8 years ago – Mon, Jan 09, 2017 at 08:18:41 PM

All,

This is a surprise update - we realized we never showed you what the factory painted gate is going to look like. This was painted by the factory as a sample for us (all the gates are manufactured, but the mass painting is not complete). The original painter was brain cylinder Ian's daughter (who also painted many of the minis for the displays on this Kickstarter). But these images are NOT her painting, they are done in China.

(You got a free one if you backed this campaign for $100+ not counting shipping).

It's water and dirt, around the stone pillars, and the red is blood.
It's water and dirt, around the stone pillars, and the red is blood.

Our theory is that you pour the blood into the tops of the pillars, it runs down and through a hidden channel in the rock it flows up to fill the circle around the sigil in the center, as well as the symbols just inside the circle. The blood on the sigils around the pillars might be painted on separately, but I'm sure it's blood too.

Next Update (this Wednesday)

Later this week we will still do another update with something from inside the book - looks like it's still a race between PC races and cults! Who will win?....

Hastur and Quantum Mechanics
almost 8 years ago – Wed, Jan 04, 2017 at 10:46:08 PM

Content from the book!

As we finish up the last parts of the book, cross our t's and dot our i's on the rules and mechanics, and do the actual layout, we promised to show you actual content from the book itself. We will do that weekly until the PDF is ready for delivery (which should only be a few weeks away).

Today is just a tease from Chapter 8: Great Old Ones and Outer Gods which details each Great Old One, including how they act as encounters (note that most of the GOOs themselves do not have traditional stat blocs - rather, they operate more like environment effects, as they are simply too powerful to be conceived of as true "encounters"). This page is the beginning of Hastur's section:

Don't say his name! Don't even think it!
Don't say his name! Don't even think it!

For legibility:

Note that the page numbers are wrong - this is just apparently the 12th and 13th pages of chapter 8, which, when placed together with ALL the chapters will change according to the magic of Adobe's InDesign.

Also, just to be clear about one thing - Sandy's name on this project and cover is not just a branding thing - the text above was written by Sandy's deranged, feverish fingers. He did not do the actual mechanics and stat blocs, but rather wrote the overwhelming majority of the flavor and designed what each monster's abilities are, and what they can do, etc., as plain text that was translated into PF rules and mechanics by James Jacobs and others. As with any RPG supplement, there are many authors (including me!), but this really is a work from the mind of Sandy - his interpretation of the Cthulhu Mythos (just as advertized).

For next week's tease

I'll give you a choice to vote in the comments. Do you want a page from:

the Mythos Races (e.g., Zoogs; Gnorri; Mythos Ghouls; Cats) ?

Or a page from the chapter on Cults?

OR, another Great Old One?
