We’re excited to announce that the Collector’s Edition of Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder is available to pre-order! Well over half of you answered the survey from last update, and more than half of our total backers told us they wanted this!

Starting now you can go back into the Pledge Manager to upgrade your copy of Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder from the standard copy by simply selecting the "upgrade" add-on. This add-on has $0 shipping (since it costs the same to ship both versions of the book). You'll still see the regular copy of the book in your rewards, but if you have selected the upgrade, you will not receive the regular book - we will manually remove the regular book and replace with the collectors edition if you have selected the upgrade. We will do this after exporting the data. (If you have more than one copy of the regular edition, we'll only ugrade as many as the number of upgrade add-ons you've selected. 

Many of you expressed a wish of keeping your standard edition for daily use and getting the Collector’s Edition for posterity (and, of course, awesome bragging rights). This will be possible. If you still want your regular copy, but simply want a copy of the Collector's Edition as well, then get the Collector's Edition itself as an add-on (this will cost shipping, but not much at all). No matter if you’re getting one or many Collector’s Editions, you’ll be totally thrilled you did. 

 I want to give a personal shout out for Sandy and the rest of the crew for pursuing this initiative so we can offer this incredible book with a Collector’s Edition option at such an affordable price.

We have been mulling over an idea for a while and want to unleash it upon you like a pack of angry zoogs. 

This book is intended to be the ultimate source for introducing and using elements of Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos in Pathfinder, as interpreted by Sandy Petersen - the godfather of Lovecraft in gaming and innovator of many Lovecraftian concepts and entities that have become Mythos canon. Such a definitive work on Mythos horror deserves a Collector's Edition. 

For an additional $7.57 you may get Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder upgraded to the Collector’s Edition that has foil stamped leather covers and is hand signed by Sandy Petersen. You are also eligible buy extra copies of the Collector’s Edition for only $43.26 each.

This is a LEATHER (not the ‘leatherette’ or ‘faux’ leather) cover. Our manufacturer says you’ll literally be able to smell the difference because of that true fine leather aroma. + Beautiful foil stamped covers. + Hand signed by Sandy Petersen. These are NOT machine signature duplicates. This is the real thing.

Petersen Games has researched and found a leather + foil stamped option that’s both awesome and affordable. The main reason it’s affordable is NOT any cut in quality, but rather NO mark-up for these additions! Insane on our part – well yes. But we’re talking about Cthulhu Mythos – so some insanity should be expected. Seriously, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We want to make it super affordable for all.

Here's the catch on us offering this:

We need a limited number of orders to do this, or else the cost is much greater. If we get orders for 540 (or close enough to it) we can offer the leather versions of Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder. The message here is – if you want it, order it.

You’ll be receiving a survey shortly (in another update) that asks if you want it and how many you might order. This isn’t a commitment. It just gives us a feel for the interest level. If the interest level is high (and we expect it will be) then we’ll add it to the pledge manager and send out instructions on how to add the upgrade to your order and order additional copies.

Importantly, after this last eldritch process, we will be closing the pledge manager down soon after, and charging everyone's cards. We will give you a precise date that will happen so there are no surprises.

NEW CONTENT ADDED AT NO ADDITIONAL COST!

Because of the incredible generosity of Paizo we will be adding all of the open content from Paizo’s Adventure Path Strange Aeons the book!

This is a TON of material. Even though it’s adding several pages (and expense) to producing the book, we felt you’d appreciate having it all of latest information on Cthulhu Mythos from Paizo and Sandy Petersen in one book.

Here’s a sneak peak of what some of the added content: There will be an introduction to twenty of the Great Old Ones and Outer Gods from the Paizo perspective. The will include new ones created by Paizo! There will also be stats for many Cthulhu Mythos creatures that Paizo has yet to cover.

Should you still buy Strange Aeons by Paizo?  Emphatically Yes! Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder will include the open content. But the Strange Aeons Adventure Path is first and foremost an Adventure Path. Like other Adventure Paths from Paizo, it promises to be exciting! In fact some other brain cylinders and I are getting together starting in September to play it.

HP LOVECRAFT WOULD LOVE THESE DRAGONS

These strange and especially wicked looking dragons can be found on our latest Kickstarter for The Gods War. www.TheGodsWar.info. I can easily imagine these dragons (and some of the other creatures from The Gods War Kickstarter) being in the Dreamlands. Remember the Dreamlands is big, and ever changing place full of different planets and different dreamers dreams. Not to mention who knows what Elves, Gnomes, or Hobgoblins may dream of that may show up in the Dreamlands!

BETA TEST OF THE CAMPAIGN LAUNCH ADVENTURE

Lastly, we’re still sorting out some changes on the Beta test of the Campaign Launch Adventure. We’ll be running it at a Games Day in Tacoma, WA (http://gamerati.com/gamedays) soon. Depending on the feedback from that, we should be releasing it to the selected Beta groups.

Master of Insanity joins team + The Gods War

WELCOME BACK!

For those of you made to GenCon (and back) welcome home.  

Thank you to all of you who stopped by. It’s always great to see you and meet you in person.  

As for Petersen Games, we had a blast! It was our best GenCon ever both in terms of sales and connecting with our customers.

CAMPAIGN LAUNCH ADVENTURE:

Thanks to all of you who sent in your requests to be part of the program. It was a little overwhelming how many of you responded. It was also awesome.  

We had a chance to learn a lot about our Campaign Launch Adventure during GenCon. We’re going to make some changes on what we’ve got as to make it better before sending it out to the beta test teams. At that time we’ll be emailing everyone who offered to participate.

Dr. Bruce Ballon…  

Dr. Bruce Ballon is an Associate Professor of Public Health and Psychiatry for the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine and Adjunct Professor for the University of Ontario Institute of Technology’s Faculty of Health Sciences. Dr. Ballon is also an Academic Educator for the Centre for Faculty Development at the University of Toronto. Dr. Ballon has received numerous national and international awards and peer-reviewed grants for his work. 

Dr. Ballon is also a long time gamer and has written gaming supplements. Most notable Unseen Masters which won an Origins award AND a special award for mental health awareness by the University of Toronto. The only publication receiving these awards simultaneously.  

Dr. Ballon brings a truly unique perspective to the development of the insanity rules for Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder. As a doctor in psychiatry and a gamer he understands the need for compassion for those with mental illness in the real world and need for theatrical rules for role-playing in an RPG. We are grateful and very much welcome his input to make Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos the best publication that it can be.
