Latest Updates from Our Project:
SPCM for Pathfinder 2e is almost here!
– Wed, Apr 28, 2021 at 02:42:18 AM
It's been a long wait - but Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder second edition is in final layout. The manuscript was written and edited many months ago, but other projects and bandwidth precluded us from completing this book. At long last, we have virtually all the new art ordered (I think a few more illustrations are in process), and the book itself is nearly laid out (it has not yet been sent to proofreading to if you see any mistakes in the previews below, don't be alarmed).
What's In the Book?
Everything from the original SPCM in the 2E system
Some art from the first book, plenty of new art (and no photos of painted miniatures), including dozens of illustrations commissioned for this book.
New Great Old One (Elder Influence) Stats: Nodens and the Watcher of the Green Pyramid
New Monsters and New Variants of monsters, including Elder Thing Polymath; Gnorri Sculptor; Gug Brute; Mi-go Thinker; Elder Shoggoth, Yithian Sage and more
Dreamlands Cat Fighting Styles
New Feats, new Traps for Rogues
New Alien Technology and Magic Items
New Spells
Thepage count is 529 BEFORE indexes (which aren't yet done) and backmatter!
As soon as it's ready to go to print we'll likely offer it as a pre-order on our website with immediate PDF download.
AND, when you pre-order the book, we'll give you a one-time 50% offcoupon for ourin-stock MiniaturesBlister Packs on our website (check them out now).
At the printer we're using, there is usually a roughly 3 month turnaround between go to press and the books sitting in our warehouses around the world, so that's likely going to be the timeline for the pre-order period.
When will it go to pre-order? Well, depends on how long proofreading takes, basically. Probably in a month or two at the outside. I'll let you know, don't worry!

First 48 Hour Special! + MORE Preview Pics!

All,
I hope I am not wearing out a welcome in posting some updates far after this project has been complete. But I know I would get some upset folks if they weren't aware of our Kickstarter Exclusive (FREE if you back Return to Planet Apocalypse in the first 48 hours) Andyes, there will be role-playing rules to use him (for 5e DnD).
.
I know I'm posting an update on a Kickstarter for a Pathfinder book. But just as we will be publishing Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos for PF 2e later, I expect us to do the Planet Apocalypse sourcebook for PF 2e next year...
Cthulhu's Dungeon Preview

All,
Due to the growing role-playing side of Petersen Games, we are launching a new monthly mailing called Cthulhu'sDungeon. It's not exactly a newsletter (we still have our weekly Petersen Games newsletter containing mostly news, reviews, previews, etc.). But it's also not exactly an online magazine. It's something in between.
It will feature all sorts of things related to role-playing and Petersen Games, for example, some common things you'll see will be:
Previews of forthcoming books and art
Special deals (especially for miniatures)
A FREE one-shot adventure every issue!
Stories from Sandy about the olden days of role-playing and Chaosium
Contests
Special Designer Notes from Sandy
Miniature Painting show-offs
Fan Pics
And other stuff! As you can see, not really a "Newsletter" per se, even though that's what we're calling it. It's totally FREE, it's going to be monthly, and it's all about role-playing. First issue will be next week, sign up here! (You have to click the "Monthly RPG Newsletter").
Here's a preview of one thing coming next week in the first issue:
Submit Your Own Adventure Hook!
Stretch your Creative muscles! Enjoy the adventure hook (below), then submit your own idea for an Adventure hook using Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos! Submit 5-6 sentence ideas for a scenario HERE.
We’ll publish our favorite one next month!
Adventure Hook for further adventures to continue the Ghoul Island Saga:
After the climax of Ghoul Island, Act 4, [SPOILER AHEAD], the volcano of Kaza erupts destroying the Elder Influence of Ghatanothoa and the ghoulish cult supporting him. However, unbeknownst to all, the eruption was so severe it created a hole deep at the base of the island under the sea.
This new tunnel filters to the ocean where the deep one segment of Ghatanothoa's cult still thrives. Their shoggoth may have been destroyed, but now they are coming from a direction no one would expect: from the caves below the volcano, not from the sea! Will the deep ones try to revive their elder god? Or simply assault the remnants of Farzeen and try to take control?
.
I wrote that sample adventure hook!

PF 2 is in final editing + Unleash Hell! + Lots of Art

All,
I hope you will forgive this break from silence to tell you that the SandyPetersen's Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder second edition is in the final stages of editing. Because the PF2 system is new, we opted to go for three editors (instead of our normal two) to be on the safe side. This has the advantage of a better book, but the disadvantage that it takes a little longer to do. In any case, I'll certainly tell you more about the PF2 version as it get closer to publication, but I think it worth mentioning that it's close to another milestone!
Planet Apocalypse for DnD 5e is coming
With the exception of the SPCM, we have largely moved to publishing DnD 5e products. However, if the SPCM for PF2 is a big hit for that system, I am confident we'll port the forthcoming Planet Apocalypse sourcebook over to PF2 as well. That's my way of justifying telling you all about this ;) What is it? Well....its:
The Ultimate Guide to destroying any world
Dark Lords always seem to threaten the world. This time, that threat becomes real. Your fantasy world actually gets destroyed as it becomes another Planet Apocalypse! A unique new product for 5th edition D&D, the Planet Apocalypse book provides rules and guides to turn any fantasy world into a post-apocalyptic landscape where the heroes fight alongside surviving remnants to merely stymie the fiendish hordes.
This 350+ page tome includes new subclasses, new feats, new spells, new magic items, THREE adventures, a complete guide on what it means to bring the apocalypse to your fantasy world, 15 Arch Lords whose Shadows literally manifest their own Hells, and a bestiary boasting more than 70 monster stat blocks!
Coming to Kickstarter this Fall
.
The book will be the same high quality we did for the SPCM - hardcover with spot UV, high quality paper, full color interior (although the graphic design includes art that matches the demonology art from the Planet Apocalypse game, which is more of a toned scale).
I hope this finds you well. I'll write to you again when we get closer to launch!

Cthulhu Mythos Saga 2: Yig Snake Granddaddy Available!
– Tue, May 05, 2020 at 07:40:49 PM
All,
It's been a little more than a YEAR! since I've posted an update here, though tons of things have been happening chez Petersen Games, and in particularly one BIG thing I want to tell you about.
Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder 2e?
It's coming! It has taken a little longer than we anticipated, but we plan on publishing it later this year. When it's available I'll let you know.
Cthulhu Mythos Sagas Subscription (for D&D 5e)
We just launched our CthulhuMythos Sagas which is a monthly subscription (modeled after Paizo's Adventure Paths). The first one was actually a Kickstarter, to gauge interest in our four part campaigns. As that was a wild success, we went forward with our plan and the second saga - Yig Snake Granddaddy is available now!
If you click here and navigate to the "Campaigns" tab, scroll down a bit and you can see information about Ghoul Island (the first saga), and preview covers for the third saga DarkWorlds. Each campaign takes you from level 1 to roughly level 15, and is split into four acts (one published per month). So, every four months there's a completely new campaign.
Plus, by subscribing you get various perks like a 10% discount on RPG products and miniatures on our website! These discounts are automatically applied for you at checkout (the system checks your email address or login, I believe).
