The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game is an evolution of the 3.5 rules set of the world's oldest fantasy roleplaying game, designed using the feedback of tens of thousands of gamers. Since Paizo released the first playtest documents in March of 2008, more than 50,000 gamers have downloaded the rules and posted their feedback, resulting in a year-long open playtest that was the largest in the history of tabletop roleplaying games. Going back to the beginning of the game's third edition, the rules engine that powers the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game have enjoyed more than 15 years of active playtesting and revision.
Some Cthulhu Mythos has already been introduced in Pathfinder, but we plan to bring an authoritative expertise of Lovecraftian Horror to the game. Our goal is that this book will be the ultimate guide to the Cthulhu Mythos for the Pathfinder Role-Playing Game.
Sandy Petersen brought Cthulhu to role-playing games with his groundbreaking game Call of Cthulhu and now wants to bring the Mythos to the high fantasy world of Pathfinder.
We also believe that no game of Pathfinder is complete without great miniatures, and we have plenty to include in this campaign. These miniatures come fully assembled and ready to be played immediately.
The miniatures are all in scale with Sir Pointsalot and with each other. (Yes the miniatures are really that big.)

The miniatures are all in scale with Sir Pointalot and with each other. (Yes the miniatures are really that big.)
We want to offer a few select backers the unique opportunity to put their mark in the Cthulhu Mythos. You will work directly with Sandy Petersen and his design team to create a creature based on a miniature.
That creature will be published in Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder! As a backer at this pledge, you will have selected a one-of-a-kind Designer Pledge Level. As a member of the design team, your design will forever live on in Pathfinder history!
Meet the Designers
Sandy Petersen's name is synonymous with Cthulhu in gaming. He is a well-known game designer and horror personality. In 1981, he designed the cult game Call of Cthulhu, the very first game to incorporate the Cthulhu Mythos. It has been translated into many languages and is still played worldwide.
Sandy developed dozens of roleplaying games, campaigns, and supplements. In 1988, he moved on to video games and was a designer on Civilization, Doom, Quake, and the Age of Empires series, among many other games. He inserted tributes to Lovecraft (sometimes hidden) in every game. In 2011, he was Executive Producer on the critically acclaimed movie The Whisperer in Darkness, based closely on the story by H. P. Lovecraft.
In 2015, he released the famous tabletop boardgame Cthulhu Wars, about the conquest of the earth by the Great Old Ones, and now runs his own small game company. His games have sold tens of millions of copies worldwide, and he has received dozens of awards from the game industry. He is regularly a guest at gaming and horror conventions around the world.
Arthur Petersen has lived and breathed the Cthulhu Mythos with his father for most of his life. Arthur has worked for Petersen Games as the Production Manager for a little over 2 years. His first game as a developer was Cthulhu Wars and its expansions where he helped to test, balance and develop the game. He has been an avid role-player, steeped in the Cthulhu Mythos for over 15 years.
Ian Starcher has worked in every facet of the game industry on and off for the last 30 years, starting with his stint at Chaosium Inc. Ian is an expert on the Pathfinder system and is Petersen Game's newest team member.

Closing the Pledge Manager + a few misc. updates!

Transmission with Brain Cylinders Reconnected.
Our normal Monday update (for November 14th) has been moved to the end of this week due to an error in the signal (it can take quite a while to send from far Yuggoth, after all).
Also, we’d been waiting for some major news which we didn’t get until Thursday of this week.
CLOSING the PLEDGE MANAGER
We need to close the pledge manager so we can get the final count to the printer. So it’s IMPORTANT you upgrade your pledge to the COLLECTOR’S EDITION (if you are doing so) in the next few days.
We are closing the pledge manager on November 22nd at 9:00 PM PST (midnight EST).
This means now is the last time your friends can jump onboard and get all the freebies, etc. with this Kickstarter. We’d appreciate it if you’d let folks know.
As you know, there are plenty enough of you that wanted the COLLECTOR’S EDITION with the leather cover and hand signed by Sandy Petersen that we’ve offered it at the $7.57 as promised.
A few of you have expressed difficulty in understanding how to do this upgrade. Here are the directions again, including upgrading from a PDF to the COLLECTOR’S EDITION. If these directions aren’t doing the job for you, then just email Support@PetersenGames.com and we will get it sorted with you personally.
If you currently have a regular edition selected in the pledge manager, but want a collector's edition, all you have to do is simply select the upgrade add-on for $7.57 and you’re done! If you have this upgrade, the regular edition will not be sent to you!
If you are only getting a PDF, but want the physical Collector’s Edition, you will need to first change your pledge level to a pledge level that includes a physical copy. Then, simply select the $7.57 upgrade as an add-on.
LONGER and BIGGER
First, dispensing with the unpleasantness. We’ve always planned on shipping the book with the miniatures. The miniatures won’t be landing in the USA until February. We’ll know the exact date when it gets closer.
So, given we have a little extra time, we’ve decided to expand the book’s content as a thank you for being patient. How much are we expanding it? – OVER 20% more content! This is a big upgrade. As a smaller publisher, we have the discretion to do cool things that increase our costs and lower our margins. So we are. Plus, Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder is the definitive book on this subject for Pathfinder. So adding more content just felt right. (Also, when we give Sandy target word counts for sections, he keeps creating such amazing content that we'd prefer to not cut him off! Seriously, we didn't even know he could make something as simple as Zoogs be so awesome!).
The major news that we got Thursday comes from James Jacobs, creative director at Paizo Publishing. As one of the authors on Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder, he has agreed to write a whole new section for the book on Deep Ones under Sandy’s purview. This will cover many variations of hybrids, how to create additional hybrids, mating habits, and more.
We don’t want to give away everything we’re adding (yet – we’ve got to save some things for future updates) but another thing you’ll see in the increase in volume in detail on many of the creatures.
Again, we apologize for our weekly update being at the end of the week instead of the beginning.
Thanks again for all of your support and encouragement!

Collector's Edition Live!

You VOTED and YOU WON!
We’re excited to announce that the Collector’s Edition of Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder is available to pre-order! Well over half of you answered the survey from last update, and more than half of our total backers told us they wanted this!
Starting now you can go back into the Pledge Manager to upgrade your copy of Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder from the standard copy by simply selecting the "upgrade" add-on. This add-on has $0 shipping (since it costs the same to ship both versions of the book). You'll still see the regular copy of the book in your rewards, but if you have selected the upgrade, you will not receive the regular book - we will manually remove the regular book and replace with the collectors edition if you have selected the upgrade. We will do this after exporting the data. (If you have more than one copy of the regular edition, we'll only ugrade as many as the number of upgrade add-ons you've selected.
Many of you expressed a wish of keeping your standard edition for daily use and getting the Collector’s Edition for posterity (and, of course, awesome bragging rights). This will be possible. If you still want your regular copy, but simply want a copy of the Collector's Edition as well, then get the Collector's Edition itself as an add-on (this will cost shipping, but not much at all). No matter if you’re getting one or many Collector’s Editions, you’ll be totally thrilled you did.
I want to give a personal shout out for Sandy and the rest of the crew for pursuing this initiative so we can offer this incredible book with a Collector’s Edition option at such an affordable price.
It really is Sandy’s and the whole gang at Petersen Games way of saying THANK YOU to all of you for being so awesome and for supporting getting this momentous book published.

Collector's Edition book (leather + signed by Sandy!)

We have been mulling over an idea for a while and want to unleash it upon you like a pack of angry zoogs.
This book is intended to be the ultimate source for introducing and using elements of Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos in Pathfinder, as interpreted by Sandy Petersen - the godfather of Lovecraft in gaming and innovator of many Lovecraftian concepts and entities that have become Mythos canon. Such a definitive work on Mythos horror deserves a Collector's Edition.
For an additional $7.57 you may get Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder upgraded to the Collector’s Edition that has foil stamped leather covers and is hand signed by Sandy Petersen. You are also eligible buy extra copies of the Collector’s Edition for only $43.26 each.
This is a LEATHER (not the ‘leatherette’ or ‘faux’ leather) cover. Our manufacturer says you’ll literally be able to smell the difference because of that true fine leather aroma.
Beautiful foil stamped covers.
Hand signed by Sandy Petersen. These are NOT machine signature duplicates. This is the real thing.
Petersen Games has researched and found a leather + foil stamped option that’s both awesome and affordable. The main reason it’s affordable is NOT any cut in quality, but rather NO mark-up for these additions! Insane on our part – well yes. But we’re talking about Cthulhu Mythos – so some insanity should be expected. Seriously, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We want to make it super affordable for all.
Here's the catch on us offering this:
We need a limited number of orders to do this, or else the cost is much greater. If we get orders for 540 (or close enough to it) we can offer the leather versions of Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder. The message here is – if you want it, order it.
You’ll be receiving a survey shortly (in another update) that asks if you want it and how many you might order.
This isn’t a commitment. It just gives us a feel for the interest level. If the interest level is high (and we expect it will be) then we’ll add it to the pledge manager and send out instructions on how to add the upgrade to your order and order additional copies.
Importantly, after this last eldritch process, we will be closing the pledge manager down soon after, and charging everyone's cards. We will give you a precise date that will happen so there are no surprises.
Pictures and more pictures. Here are some of the pictures we’re using in the playtesting of the Campaign Launch Adventure. We’re still tweaking it and should have the maps done soon so we can send it out to the Beta Test groups.
As always we appreciate your support! Thanks for being so awesome!

NEW CONTENT ADDED AT NO ADDITIONAL COST!
– Fri, Sep 09, 2016 at 12:46:42 AM
Because of the incredible generosity of Paizo we will be adding all of the open content from Paizo’s Adventure Path Strange Aeons the book!
This is a TON of material. Even though it’s adding several pages (and expense) to producing the book, we felt you’d appreciate having it all of latest information on Cthulhu Mythos from Paizo and Sandy Petersen in one book.
Here’s a sneak peak of what some of the added content: There will be an introduction to twenty of the Great Old Ones and Outer Gods from the Paizo perspective. The will include new ones created by Paizo! There will also be stats for many Cthulhu Mythos creatures that Paizo has yet to cover.
Should you still buy Strange Aeons by Paizo?
Emphatically Yes! Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder will include the open content. But the Strange Aeons Adventure Path is first and foremost an Adventure Path. Like other Adventure Paths from Paizo, it promises to be exciting! In fact some other brain cylinders and I are getting together starting in September to play it.
HP LOVECRAFT WOULD LOVE THESE DRAGONS
These strange and especially wicked looking dragons can be found on our latest Kickstarter for
The Gods War. www.TheGodsWar.info. I can easily imagine these dragons (and some of the other creatures from The Gods War Kickstarter) being in the Dreamlands. Remember the Dreamlands is big, and ever changing place full of different planets and different dreamers dreams. Not to mention who knows what Elves, Gnomes, or Hobgoblins may dream of that may show up in the Dreamlands!
To get these wonderfully awful monstrosities, pledge on The Gods War Kickstarter.
Please send us an email if you’re interested in us creating Pathfinder stats and such for these critters, email Support@PetersenGames.com. If we get enough emails of interest in these, we’ll take a poll on the creatures on The Gods War Kickstarter and find out what specifically is of interest to ya’ll.
BETA TEST OF THE CAMPAIGN LAUNCH ADVENTURE
Lastly, we’re still sorting out some changes on the Beta test of the Campaign Launch Adventure. We’ll be running it at a Games Day in Tacoma, WA (http://gamerati.com/gamedays) soon. Depending on the feedback from that, we should be releasing it to the selected Beta groups.
