Final PDF end of this week!
over 6 years ago – Wed, Nov 08, 2017 at 12:16:43 AM

All,

I just got off the phone with the graphic designer, and she has all the revisions and corrections from the proofreader, and is incorporating them now. As I mentioned before, this book is over 500 pages, so it will take her a little bit, she is estimating that it will be ready by the end of this week.

As soon as that is complete, she will turn around and lay out the "tarot" cards of the bestiary which will ship alongside the book.

We are so close!

Expect the very next update to be within a week and to be telling you that you'll get an email from BackerKit with a link of the final PDF!

Last chapter being proofread today!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Oct 31, 2017 at 05:33:04 PM

All,

I have an update email this morning from the proofreader that he is working on the final chapter today!

So, depending on how many small corrections layout has to fix from the proofread, we could be days away from the PDF being sent to you!

Wanted to update you.

PDF download almost here!
over 6 years ago – Wed, Oct 25, 2017 at 10:47:53 PM

This is a quick update, since I haven't posted anything for about a month:

The Layout is complete, and the final PDF began being proofread 6 days ago! Our proofreader updated me today that he is about 40% complete with the read-through. (It is a 512 page tome, so he's actually going quite fast). Therefore, I'd estimate we still have a little over a week until he's done reading through.

When this final proofread is done, I will post another update, and BackerKit will send out emails with the PDF for you to download the entire, complete book!

In the mean time, here is the final cover:

Book Update
over 6 years ago – Fri, Sep 29, 2017 at 09:27:13 PM

All,

Our last update was over two months ago, and we are seriously overdue.

Please forgive us - we've had lots going on, and much of it related to THIS project!

Last time I revealed that the laid out proofs were almost ready, and then we had to review those proofs. That was entirely accurate at the time.

However, while that version was in layout (which I sent in a previous update as word document downloads for all of you to read), one of our developers wanted to incorporate some changes to a few sections. Unfortunately, doing this at this late stage did require the layout and proofing process to stall, and then revert to an earlier stage of editing. (You cannot add unedited content to a book in layout, it must also be edited, then laid out, then proofread).

In short, we are now, again, nearly finished with the layout of the book, and then we will go to the final proofread. This did cause a few weeks of unanticipated delay, but it will CERTAINLY result in an even better, more polished product that will stand the test of time.

I know that many of you will be upset by this further delay. However, there is a really nice silver lining to it all:

The book is so big and heavy, our initial pricing on this Kickstarter was seriously too low. That's great for you! You already paid for it. But we will be increasing the price for future sales due to our increased costs for such a large, heavy book. $35 was simply a steal! There are basically no comparable role-playing books at that price. Thought I'd pass that along!

I will update again as soon as the layout is done (should be very soon), which would mean the ONLY thing standing between you and the PDF download is a quick proofread!

Thanks for your patience as always,

Arthur

News and an RPG project to check out
over 6 years ago – Thu, Jul 13, 2017 at 10:23:51 PM

All,

We will be reviewing the layout proofs in a few days!  The review process, as well as revisions for any typos, errors, etc. may take a few short weeks. When that is done, we will immediately send it to you as a PDF, and send the files to the printers.

At that point (when we send the final PDF) we will have an exact timeline for printing and shipping for the physical book.

Thank you SO much for you endless patience with us.

The text of the King in Yellow's actual script on Kickstarter?

Well, not quite. However, as fellow fans of weird horror, the Cthulhu Mythos team thought you might want to hear us scream in terror at the Kickstarter for The Yellow King Roleplaying Game. Brought to you by our pal Robin D. Laws and Pelgrane Press, the game takes you on a brain-bending spiral through multiple selves and timelines.

Inspired by Robert W. Chambers’ influential cycle of short stories, The Yellow King Roleplaying Game pits the characters against the reality-altering horror of The King in Yellow. This suppressed play, once read, invites madness. Or a visit from its titular character, an alien ruler intent on invading and remolding our world into a colony of their planet, Carcosa. Four books, served up together in a beautiful slipcase, confront your players with an epic journey into reality horror. The Yellow King Roleplaying Game has already funded and blasted through 25 Stretch Goals. Seize it now with your massive tentacles!

- a Random Brain Cylinder whose number we have not yet determined posted this update. We are trying to find out which one did it. We apologize for any inconvenience.
